Arab Children in Europe … Integration or Assimilation?

"Mustapha" or "Steve"? "Maryam" or "Mary"????

Nadhra Ala… flies to Europe to broadcast LIVE from Brussels, Marseille and London, to meet children immigrants from different Arab origins, and discuss with them their adaptation with the local community. Have they become Europeans and forgot about their origins?

Al Jazeera Children's Channel (JCC) guested at the French-speaking Belgian public broadcaster RTBF yesterday. The Qatari Arab radio station presented a live broadcast devoted to the situation of Arab kids in Europe. About 40 kids of Arab immigrants took part in the show, to share their thoughts.

The special broadcast of the weekly debate 90 minute show "Nadhra Ala.." (a clear view) was presented from Brussels with two additional broadcast stations in Marseilles and London. The program was a compilation of children's testimonies interspersed with reports.

Immigrant children of the 2nd and 3rd generation could exchange their thoughts about daily life with children from the Arab world. Thanks to translators they could talk in French, English or Arabic.

The European Commissioner for Education, Jan Figel, was one of the guests on the program.
