About 150 to 200 Muslims convert every year to Catholicism in France, reports Le Monde, and about three times as many convert to Protestantism. Most are children from mixed marriages, who were raised as Muslims and started questioning their faith when they reached adolescence.
Conversions are often concealed out of fear of reprisals by family and acquaintances.
