France: Mosque desecrated

A mosque in eastern France was covered with racist graffiti this past Thursday night. Swastikas, a Jewish star and a pig's head were drawn on the facade of the mosque in Audincourt, along with racist slogans such as "France for the French" and "Arabs out". Audincourt is a town of 15,000 next to the Swiss border.

It is unclear who desecrated the mosque and the investigation is ongoing. 148 Muslim graves were desecrated last week in the Norte Dame de Lorette cemetery in northern France. President Sarkozy met with a Muslim delegation Thursday and announced he will visit the cemetery on April 24th.

Terrible, condemnable behaviour. I hope they catch the perpetrators and prosecute them to the highest extent of the law.

Probably did it themselves to gain sympathy with a pretend hate attack.

This is the wrong way to channel outrage.

"A nazi symbol AND a jewish star"

Does that make any sense at all?

That screams out HOAX to me.

I'm with ytba.

Sorry, it was probably a muslim who did it. Usually it's muslims who equate jews with nazi's.

@ mike

no muslim would EVER put graffiti on a muslim grave, that's just EVIL,

and SOME muslims equate Nazis with not Jews but with Zionists, and ALOT of orthodox jews also equate Zionists with Nazis

need proof? You can watch hours worth of material on here:

Anonymous, I'm sorry, but you really don't make any sense. Why would neo-fascists not use the star of David as an insult? There's quite some precedent for that, think of yellow stars on people's overcoats. Also remember that anti-semitism is called that for a reason - the target of its hate includes both Jews and Arabs (look up 'semite' or 'semitic').

That the perpetrators are probably a bunch of dimwits who don't know their nose from their elbow I'd happily agree. But that they are hoaxers, or that it is a sympathy grabbing initiative, I seriously doubt it.

Anti-Semitic is misleading. It should be anti-Jew more precisely.
The National Socialists in Germany in the 30s and 40s only had a beef with the Jews. If it'd been all Semites, they wouldn't have been allied with and allowed the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Mohammad Amin al-Husayni (a virulent Jew-hater, who these days would be known as a 'moderate' Palestinian) to recruit Muslims into the Waffen-SS.
The majority of Europeans, who increasingly are becoming aware of what Islam is really all about, have a negative opinion of Islam, and so it wouldn't be too unusual to assume that some less restrained people might prosecute an attack of this kind.
