Denmark: Somali suicide bomber came from Denmark
A Somali who carried out a suicide attack in Somalia on December 3rd formerly lived in Denmark, according to the Danish Security Service PET.
A PET press release says that the identity of the suicide bomber is not clear, but they suspect that it's a Somali citizen who has lived in Denmark. The man was in his 20s and had lived in Denmark for several years.
PET says that as they have said on several occasions, there are people linked to Denmark who have gone through militant Islamic radicalization and military training and are involved in terror-related activities in various countries, including Somalia.
Nineteen people, including three ministers, were killed when a bomb exploded December 3rd in the capital Mogadishu.
The attack took place during a ceremony for graduating doctors in a big hotel in the middle of the city. The murdered ministers are the minister for higher education, Ibrahim Hassan Addow, the health minister, Qamar Aden, and education minister Abdullahi Waayel. The sports minister, Suleyman Olad Roble, was injured.
This was the worst bomb attack in Somalia in recent months. Most of those killed were students at Banadir University, but some parents were also killed.
